BULAMBULI: Small Claims Procedure (SCP) was launched at Bulambuli Magistrate's Court.
The launch was presided over by the Senior Resident Judge of Mbale, Hon. Lady Justice Susan Okalany.
Hon.Lady Justice Okalany urged the people of Bulambuli to embrace Small Claims Procedure, saying the Procedure is one of the fastest ways to recover money.
"SCP is cheap, efficient, no need for lawyers and the matter ends in a very shorttime...," she said.
Court users commended the area the Magistrate Grade One Bulambuli, HW Julian Agwango,for her role in settling land disputes. The judge commended the Magistrates for the job well done.
Hon.Lady Justice Okalany also asked the people of Bulambuli to embrace SCP and other Alternative Dispute Resolutions such as Mediation.
She thanked the District leadership for donating the land that now houses the courthouse and police station.
The Ag. Assistant Registrar in charge of SCP, HW Lillian Bucyana, thanked the people of Bulambuli for turning up in big numbers for launch of the procedure.
She said the Judiciary is on a countrywide operationalizing of SCP Courts.
The launch was attended by the district leadership led by the Resident District Commissioner, Mr. Peter Paak, as well as actors from different Justice, Law and Order Sector Institutions.
These included, among others the District Police Commander, Mr. Musoni Alphonse, the District Internal Security Officer, Mr. Wagongoba Ali, religious and cultural leaders.
In the evening, HW Bucyana let the Judiciary team to Elgon FM for the radio sensitization before a similar launch of the program at the Budaka Magistrates Court.
